Top Performers

Stars of the Week-March 31

North County- Holly Contreras, Fallbrook Jr. Track & Field

Contreras, a junior, tied a school record in the high jump that has stood for nearly 20 years. That performance earned her Star of the Week honors for North County.

The Warriors’ track and field star high jump of 5-feet 4-inches tied the Fallbrook school record that had been in place since 1993. The mark placed her in a tie for fourth at the prestigious Asics/Mt. Carmel Invitational last Saturday.

“I hope Holly will surpass that mark and become the single holder of the record in the near future,” head coach Troy Hamlin said.

Contreras, who also runs the 300-meter hurdles and is a member of the 4 X 400 team, will have another year and a half to do just that.

South County- Collis Hunt III, Lincoln Sr. 3B/C/P

The Hornets’ star is quickly entering the discussion for Player of the Year in the San Diego Section, as Hunt III is hitting .618 and has posted a scalding 1.891 OBPS.

The senior made a huge impact last week for Lincoln, and is the Star of the Week for South County.

Facing La Jolla on Monday, Hunt III went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs in the Hornets’ narrow 11-9 win over La Jolla.

Later in the week against Bishop’s, Hunt III went 4-for-5 with a double, scoring three runs to lead Lincoln past the Knights.

Hunt III also pitched well but took the loss against Santa Fe Christian last week. The 6-foot-1 senior allowed three earned runs in five innings, striking out seven.
